With a mix of contemporary folk/pop style and soulful, easy-going charm, Marc Cohn reinvents classics from his youth on his brand new album, Listening Booth: 1970.
Cohn transforms songs from artists like Cat Stevens, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Smokey Robinson, Paul Simon and many more. These highly personal interpretations have been so creatively and confidently re-imagined, they feel brand new.
1970 was a milestone for Cohn and for pop culture at large, given the range of notable artists who made the charts that year. Forty years later, Cohn said his new album is “my humble attempt to repay a debt of gratitude to the artists who changed my life.”
“Cohn hits just the right note, letting the drama emerge from the songs themselves…He takes you from shattered dreams to spiritual deliverance.” –Rolling Stone
